Probably one of the best superhero movies of all time in my opinions. Up there with Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Begins, The Lego Batman Movie and The Batman.
yes, This movie is indeed "woke". It is brazenly "woke" and very forthcoming about it. The main villain is a wimpy narcissist willing to aid a country run by war criminals and risk the lives of innocent Americans just to one up an alien immigrant he does not like. Sound familiar?
what i appreciate about the "wokeness" is that its done in a way that feels authentic. It makes perfect sense for Superman to take a stand when a country is being attacked by a militaristic regime, and Lex Luthor would indeed be the type of bastard who would try to use the crisis to sabotage him. The "wokeness" didn't even occur to me after the fact
