Friend of mine is in a similar situation as you. He's a professional industrial painter but he's also the only person computer literate at the company. Over last year he's slowly been transitioned to contracts and legal matters. Found out about a month ago his boss wants to retire and has been grooming him to be given the business for a $1. He's unhappy with the idea as he just likes painting and not thinking.
Hopefully you at least like the new position, being busy usually means money is coming in
