I think real love on /soc/ is possible, you just have to get lucky. It's easier to find people here because everyone is looking for someone here, so you'll end adding lots of people and ending up talking with 3, and meeting 1 or even 0. On other boards is different, I got extremely lucky years ago and met someone on /r9k/ that was as deranged as I was (it was very unlikely for us to be living in the same city, plus finding out in a thread that lasted like 5 minutes), it lasted 4 years. It ended but not because of the way we met, and yes I would do it all over again. This is not a perfect place, but it's worth a shot, don't get too deep into it and keep your eyes open in real life too. It's all about it being the right moment, in the right place.
