I was thinking that maybe he is just not fit for the position he's not booksmart nor subtle or has the patience to play along with things he doesn't like for long term gain he is short sighted he only sees what's infront of him at the moment.

I want all male companions to be outsiders or be seen as a little weird another one I would like to add is an ex-prostitute or concubine he used to be railed but after he got his powers he's likely to never leave behind his infamous past.
So he does play the part of a hedonist but is a talented manipulator and politician that could be a great advisor.
