Personally, I'd rather something similar to the Color Out of Space where alien life ends up not only adapting to Earth, but radically reshapes and manipulates it into a strange, disconcerting distortion of reality. More sentient life as a result of something alien coming into contact with humanity and less sentient life existing out of Earth. Better bridges the gap between humanity and extraterrestrial life, I think. Best examples are Sandstar and the Thing from the Stars from Darkest Dungeon. Fucking love that shit. Aliens shouldn't be directly viewable to us, but their repercussions should be immediately understandable and fuckable to a large extent.
