Reloading beginner based in Czech Republic here. Any experiences with loading .45-70, lead bullets and blackpowder for an original Springfield Trapdoor? My first batch was 60 grains of local Vesuvit LC blackpowder, and 405 grain .459 size lead bullets without hollow base, no powder compression or droptube. At 50m the rifle turned into a shower head. Is there still hope to improve by reloading or is my rifle fucked? Bore looks shiny enough and rifling is still there; the crown has some marks from cleaning rod cleaning but nothing too major. I ordered some hollow base bullets from Germany and hope that those might provide a tighter gas seal/engage the rifling more effectively.
