it's appealing to the yuumi,lux,etc girl players who want to be able to alt tab out and esex on discord while griefing the adc

by far zyra's weakest role atm is support
her strongest role is jungle, yet below diamond only 10-15% of her playerbase plays her on anywhere else but support

lux is exactly in the same boat, she is a terrible fucking support outside of a few combos like lux+caitlyn (but caitlyn has better synergies with other supports anyways)
she has much higher winrate as apc on mid or bot, but because she is a cute female champ with cute,sparkly and pink skins she is almost exclusively played as a support because most of her playerbase is just women or trannies
