>O SaGa anon, which one do I start with?
The Romancing SaGa 2 3D remake is by far the most accessible onboarding experience, but if you want a qrd about the others
>Classic SaGa (SaGa/FFL 1-3)
SaGa 1 and 2 are short, linear, compact campaigns (around 10 hours each) with different races, each having unique leveling methods. Good if you want to ease yourself into the series' unorthodox mechanics. GB SaGa 3 plays more like FF disguised as SaGa, but the DS remake turns it into a proper SaGa game. None of these games are too hard.
>Romancing SaGa series
Focuses heavily on nonlinear progression and exploration. Probably the most similar to DQ in terms of execution and setting. Minstrel Song is arguably the most complex game in the series and can be overwhelming, but a newcomer can trudge through to the end just fine. 2 has unique generational mechanics with class-based recruits like DQ3. 3 is relatively easy compared to the others but also easy to get lost in.
>SaGa Frontier series
1 retains Romancing's nonlinear gameplay but in a futuristic setting with different worlds, similar to SaGa 1 and 2. One of the easiest games in the series, and each character's campaign is pretty short. 2 has nothing to do with 1 and goes back to medieval fantasy, but is the most linear and restrictive game in the series as plot becomes the forefront. Wouldn't recommend SF2 personally.
>the others (Unlimited, Scarlet Grace, Emerald Beyond)
Very experimental and divisive even within the SaGa fandom. I love SG and EB a lot, but wouldn't recommend to newcomers until they get at least a couple SaGa games under their belt.
