Actually no I think this is the first (or one of the first) because I remember one of the anons here posted an image of a Japanese magazine with this artwork next to pages of the Sonic manga, and the manga is older than Sonic 2

In his early drawings he seemed to draw Sonic's eyes smaller than they should be. Doesn't Sonic look like a psychopath here?
