what the fuck are you guys talking about, star trek has always been like this. it's literally all about being super progressive in the future, accepting different cultures/societies, fighting back against authoritarian regimes (romulan) and militarism (klingon). every iteration, including and especially TOS, makes diversity a prominent point, and it's always portrayed positively. TNG had a fucking counselor onboard in an era when no one really gave two shits about mental health issues. i don't know how real honest-to-god red-blooded right-wing people can even really like the show desu, i mean the federation literally doesn't have currency and everyone gets free gibs.
