I guess people don't talk about it anymore, but the plot of Sonic Heroes is weird. Shadow coming back is not treated with any weight. Everyone was mourning his sacrifice at the end of SA2, and they had this big emotional goodbye for the character. But then in Heroes they just start fighting and quipping at each other. Sonic and Shadow respected each other by the end of SA2, and it feels like that was mostly written out of the franchise from Heroes onward.
