Additionally, imagine pretending you like Shadow and then arguing that he's an animal after being called one made him cry.
It made Maria scream at armed soldiers because he is a BOY. He is her FRIEND. He is not a "pet" and comparing him to some animal is OFFENSIVE to both of them.
