For some reason, the first thought in my mind is Tails and Amy when taking the concept more literally.

A boy that's obsessed with hype moments and aura doing insane scientific math equations to quantify who would win a fight, versus a very romantic girl with rose-tinted goggles obsessed with shipping people together.

So like, imagine Tails being like "but can he beat Goku, though?" but with Shadow or more likely Sonic, while Amy trying to decide which of her Sally ships is the best.

Characterfags often have deluded perspectives of their favorite character or self-insert heavily, overwriting the characters' traits, preferences, and motivations with their own. Sometimes it's unconscious and they don't realize they're doing it. This means a characterfag saying something is "for the best" does not automatically mean it really is the best for the characters, you need to take it with a grain of salt.

I personally think Shadria is the best for both characters. Maria was a very lonely girl before Shadow came around, by her own admission. Although her life was cut short, her last few years were tolerable because Shadow was there by her side. She got to feel less like a burden, she finally had a useful role to play, and that was teaching Shadow what beauty, friendship, kindness, love, and happiness are. He in turn would watch over her and distract her from the pain of her illness.
As for Shadow, Maria was one of the only good things he's ever had. From the very beginning, he didn't work on her illness. He was immediately plunged into a stressful situation, and his sense of self-worth was derived from something out of his control. But Maria was there, she was a master at distracting him from his own spiraling negative thoughts about himself.
Without Maria, Shadow probably would not be fighting for good. He might not even be alive. If he hadn't remembered her wish, he would have been nothing but a weapon, a weapon with no motivation to see good in anybody since he would never have experienced Maria's love. Shadow would not be the Shadow we know without Maria, but with Maria's light in his heart, he will continue to fight to give everyone a chance to be happy.

A universe where Maria lived, where Shadow and Maria could be by each other's side, would be what would make both of them happiest beyond anything else. They were objectively good influences in one another's lives. I support that and cannot understand it when people hate it.

Sonic 1,2 and 3 with Knuckles. Sonic CD with a three part episode special with Amy Rose and Metal Sonic. Amy would’ve have seen crushing on not just sonic but the human teen boy Alex as well. And the finale would’ve been an original story with villains from Knuckles Chaotix introducing Vector, Espio, Charmy and Honey as a member.

This was Archie's way of explaining why Station Square exists since there were hardly any humans or Overlanders at this point. They really must have struggled to adapt Sonic Adventure. First, they wrote an entire story to explain why Sonic now has green eyes, then they brought in Robo Robotnik to become Eggman since old Robotnik has been dead since issue 50, and then had Amy age herself up with a Wish granting ring that the cast wanted to use to bring Sally's mom out of a coma. Though, I imagine SA2 would be an even bigger hassle, so they just decided not to, aside from City Escape and Shadow's backstory up until Sonic Universe's Shadow Saga due to what was happening with Tails, Knuckles, and Amy at the time in the comics.

I checked the Wiki script with Japanese cutscenes and Light Gaia refers to the planet as 大地 which is basically a way to say the same thing with more 'flourish'. I think "gaia" would have been a far better translation.

You know it's not like people came together and decided "this place is called Earth" we call it earth because that's like the ground and we identify the stuff we live on with the ground and so that's like that's what we call it you know
We name countries because there are situations in which multiple people from different countries refer to other countries, we name other planets because we see them in the sky, but giving your own planet a name is a fantasy thing
In conclusion, it's called "the earth", and coming up with a name like "mobius" is stupid for the setting of the main games. That is unless they want to tell us the Classics+Adventure games, Unleashed, and Forces are actually three different unnamed planets, and that humans live on multiple planets. That's entirely possible too actually

To add to this, I recall Sonic Adventure 2 actually uses the term 地 which is also vague since it can be used for earth or any earth-like (life-supporting) planet, or the planet surface which makes sense in context. They should have just translated it as "the planet" but hindsight is 20/20.
So in summary...

The entire point of Shadow provoking Sonic about Tom was to make him feel bloodlust. After Super Sonic punches him to the moon Shadow no longer attempt to fight back even though all his limbs are free and he's shown he's capable of going against Super Sonic in base form.
