Somewhere in the middle, particle slop is so ass (warframe) but having it too realistic is boring. A nice balance of visual effects I can think of would be close to Monster Hunter where you can easily recognize whatever is going on without much visual clutter.

Make it a thing you grind for, or a luxury to have (no p2w), like a class-based system where only a few classes can make other players teleport.

Zoned but ample enough, troon fantasy 14 comes to mind.

Something unique, like picrel but it doesn't have to be this cartoonish, just a clear indication of character design. I am so utterly tired of most games coming out being uncreative as shit. It's all either k-sluts/fuckboys or anime. Or anything that looks mildly good creature-wise is mobile shovelware.
