UBI was never required to fund basic needs. That's communists hearing free money and making up nonsense that doesn't work. I don't care if that's what it commonly means now it doesn't work so it doesn't matter if I won't talk to someone about UBI as UBN.
UBI is monetary policy, or rather an aspect of the distribution of monetary policy. It also works alongside a negative sales tax for example.
