Due to the influx of foreign, spicy foods from India and Latin America into Europe and North America, I think younger generations will have higher spice tolerances than their parents.
I already experienced this today when my mother mentioned something was really spicy and she could hardly eat it, but when I tried it, it hardly felt like much spice.
