This song will forever live rent free in my head and its all thanks to that one simpsons episode. I think its whats seperated alot of newer shows and media culturally is that they dont harken back and connect to americas pastime, their outright refusal to positively acknowledge Americana at all dissasociates them from the larger scope of the american cultural zeitgeist, like some random boomer can throw this shit on or I can hear this shit playing at Target or Macys or whatever and I instantly remember when Ralph was alone naked in a broken pool and where I was when I watched it as a kid and the good memories associated with childhood or whatever. music is a great source for this and alot of modern shows dont use this link to their own benefit. They should really try weaving themselves into old school/classic American music more. When I first listened to the whole song as a kid I actually hated it cause I didnt want Frank singing on it I thought it was an instrumental arraignment from the way the simpsons only played the first 20 seconds. Made it sound different in my head. Ive learned to appreciate it alot more now that im older with alot more time under my belt, having felt a summer wind or two.
