Yep. It's impressive how much Japan plagiarised the west. 70's/80's anime art styles are pretty much a caricature of its western contemporaries, and the distinct anime look that arose during the 90's was a caricature of that caricature. I think people call Nemlei's art anime for no other reason than the fact it isn't intention ugly, but once upon a time western animation was far more beautiful than eastern animation.
