Philosophical depth is a separate issue from acting smart. S;G does have things to say and some philosophical depth, but it is not portraying itself as some hyper intelligent or technical science story. It's a story about some friends fighting against fate, not about deep delving into the technical aspects of physics or whatever, those things are just referenced in the plot framework and media illiterates get confused.

Kurisu is what matters in this story, not the shit on the blackboard behind her.
