Part of the reidork psychology is realizing that they think Rei is SO great that the very idea that anyone would prefer another character to her, let alone one who embodies the exact opposite is offensive to them. The very idea that you like Asuka more, or in their eyes merely claim to like her more, is unacceptable. So you’ll find that instead of relying on personal appeals to why they like certain character traits more, they attempt to argue from a purely empirical approach. They want to PROVE Rei is better. So you see them post lots of weird charts and overly elaborate plot dissections that present their case as if they were in court. So it’s not enough just to tell them “Rei is kinda creepy and lives like a pig!” because you are not referring to the image they posted that cherrypicks a bunch of unrelated ideas and half truths together. The burden is on you to somehow prove mathematically why a fiery ball of energy is attractive and why standing up against nine opponents alone is badass.
