Honestly Dara of Reiwa taught me that they have plenty of pretty nasty stuff to pull from but likely choose not to due to it being less "popular" or well known than others and less inyourface styled horror.
And that shit isn't exactly a text book for spooky scary ghosts so there's probably plenty of others to choose from in their folklore.
