Think about it, it's similar to why people don't 'get' fighting games. Anything that requires you to actually understand what you're doing puts you in 'try hard' category since everything in both genres are based off you and your skills alone and you can't blame teammates or cheese the gameplay mechanics when you're rewarded depending on your overall performance.
