It's crazy, since it confirms the notion that the PLAN CSGs are much more capable than estimated. On Tuesday, June 17 the older Liaoning Carrier performed 80 takeoffs and landings, combined into 700 sorties by the end of the deployment. Reminder that this is the actual ex-soviet rustbucket carrier that the Chinese refurbished, and not the completely new-built carrier which also was deployed alongside it.
Needless to say, China is already a blue-water naval power and there is zero excuse for the US sailing rusting ships into their public harbor. Especially not a ship that hasnt been seriously deployed in any manner.
