The manga was bizarre, alien dude and Colonel Sanders and Ai being a magic spirit child, the anime had the Code Geass guy rearrange everything and cut half and make an original climax and was better in every way except for giving Goro a gun. If it had been adapted faithfully it would be just another weird early 2000s show people reminisce about every couple years.
