For me, working retail, I've noticed that teens and kids just don't like making eye contact, like I'm helping a kid (like 10-11) who's with their folks, it's THEIR item and when I tell them the total they just look down or away and their parent has to awkwardly nudge them to engage. Like shit, I remember buying fucking Megaman toys at Walmart back in the 00s on my own, give the cash and get change, be on my merry way.
