Crossovers have been going since before anybody ITT had even been in the womb, there's nothing wrong or infantile about them as long as they're entertaining and respect the source material. I'm not saying every crossover is good, God knows that the LOTR one made me assflustered, but I am saying there's nothing wrong with them on occasion. You can get irritated with oversaturation on them, of course, but denying them outright is pretty gay
