You're not on reddit, think I haven't seen actual war footage? I've seen plenty of footage of Americans at war, none of it features one guy standing in the middle of a field (or a desert these days) waiting to get killed. It's always groups of guys working in teams.

It would have been rare. American military training stresses "no man left behind" and soldiers train to carry each other. Remember, our soldiers aren't civilians thrown into the back of a van, our guys sign up willingly and even the dumbest ones take their job seriously. You can even end up in prison if you endanger teammates.

Yeah that's the problem, all militaries need to update how they fight. You can't just add drones to the battlefield and then everyone is like, "oh well, guess I have to die." Hmmm jeez maybe use the weapon designed to take out birds against this new flying threat. No no can't do that, shotguns are for opening doors ONLY that's what the manual written in the 90s says.
