Effortpost Sunday, here we come.
>2019
>DB Super: Broly released to massive acclaim
>Everybody talking about the film, how good it was, etc...
>In particular, lots of noise was being made online at the time about how well Vic Mignogna performed in the role of Broly, for all the screaming required
>Lots of Twitter posts being made to the extent of "Wow Broly's voice actor was so good!" without actually naming him, and plenty more that do.
>This is an unusual amount of attention for an English VA to get, let alone an ANCIENT old head like Vic.
>Vic is over 60, and has hundreds of roles.
>It's very difficult for someone like this to make a viral splash online at this point in their career.
>Fans very excited to see that Broly is now canon and might be joining the cast of Super down the road
Cue the drama:
>Chronically-online big heads from the DBZ dub get jealous of all the renewed attention Vic is getting
>They feel overshadowed in their main IP, despite their having also been in the film.
>To stay relevant, Monica Rial (Bulma) accuses Vic of sexually harassing her with no evidence, backed up by her colleague, Jamie Marchi.
>Sean Schemmel (Goku) and Chris Sabat (Vegeta) back them up on Twitter and at cons.
>Fans forced to pick sides
>Reddit atheists and /cgl/ have despised Vic since around 2008/09, when they started calling Vic a Christian cult leader
>They start recirculating their ancient rumors of sexual impropriety at cons amidst the drama, which get picked up by Twitter
>Monica Rial is a big head at Funimation
>She brings the drama up to corporate
>Rumors circulating that Toei might get involved and pull their IPs, etc...
>Funimation responds by completely blackballing Vic
>Vic gets fired, can't get hired anywhere else
>In danger of losing his whole career
>Funimation keeps his voice in the English dub, but completely scrubs his name from the project
>TFW you watch the credits roll and there is no voice actor listed for the titular character.
