Christian Identity is an offshoot of British Israelism which was a heavily pro-Semitic movement (under the logic that Jews and Anglos ultimately came from the same stock). It's kosher racism that creates out of thin air a blood bond between Europeans and Semites. Quite literally and directly, we wuz Jews (and therefore what happens to Jews must matter to you also). The movement is traced back at the earliest to the late 1500s where some alternate history was created to explain it, none of which was ever backed up with archeological finds in spite of many, many attempts. The date is of particular note since Europeans from before the invention of the printing press and the resulting widespread availability of Bibles never felt any need to connect themselves to Jewish history. But after they could read the Bible for themselves, suddenly there arose an urge to write ourselves into this religion that in origin really had nothing to do with us. We'd placed alien history at the center of our lives and the people, left adrift, tried to write themselves into its pages. This was the wedge that left the door open for the Zionists in the late 19th/early 20th century, which created all the bullshit of today.

Were it not for Christianity there would simply be no concern for what happens in the Middle East. We would treat these conflicts the same way we treat civil wars in Africa, barely noticing them at all.
