Best part of Rome was them showing how a Roman army actually fought: cohesive and together guided by the leaders with troops regularly switched out to rest; against the uncoordinated savages who fight until they drop and don't have an overall strategy. I have no clue where the usual directors got the idea that audiences will only accept mindless charging while yelling and be put off by actual intelligent battle tactics. It's just easier and cheaper but so, so stupid.
