they all loved Putin until he nationalized Russian natural resources. The world printed a very large amount of debt based on the assumption that these resources would be available. In addition to that Russia controls about 1/3 of the world wheat production and a significant amount of nitrogen and phosphate.

What makes oil so unique is that it doesn’t have to be made. It only has to be harvested. The oil is just there in the ground. The consequence of this is that anyone can make use of it and everyone who uses it does not know how to make it without using oil to make it. It cannot be substituted. It is the primary energy source for everything and feedstock for most industrial chemicals. If you had to produce the hydrocarbon molecules you consume a much different world would exist with far less abundance. When you spend dollars you spend energy, and likewise debt is a lean on future energy production.
