When I got out of rehab and moved into a sober living place I had to attend AA 4 times a week as a requirement. It's really not a religious organization, but some people act like it is. They treat the Big Book as a Bible and Bill W. as a Messiah, and that you have to adhere to the 12 step traditions in order to stop drinking. Complete zealots who are retired and have nothing else to do anymore. I stopped going because some of the old timers would talk shit behind other old timers backs and they would blow up during the meeting when it was their turn to speak. A bunch of 65+ year old men acting like bitches. I stopped going when I seen a geriatric boxing match in the parking lot kek. Thanks for reading my blog.
The Big Book is a pretty good read, especially the personal stories in the back.
