It's one of the most off things in the entire franchise. Like them being scared of a scrapyard because trains can be scrap is one thing, but having it actually be a real thing that happens is just oddly dark all things considered. There's a whole movie about Thomas going off on a wrong track and finding a Japanese import engine rotting in the woods for a half century. I think that was the last time they did anything remotely close to it.
