To me, all this concern is bullshit.

Nintendo has never, in their entire video game history, encouraged their consumers to take it upon themselves to bust open their products and mess with the hardware and software. Even in the 1980s, they equipped their consoles with screws with irregular bits and warned people that they'll void their warranty if they make any attempt at opening their hardware for any reason.

The reason why no one cared was because these measures were so easy to circumvent. If it was piss easy to bypass Nintendo's security measures, no one was going to care what Nintendo was actually trying to do by having these measures in the first place.

Fast forward over thirty years later and people are clutching their pearls and hiking their skirts up because Nintendo is doing what they've been consistently doing for nearly four decade now, and we're now screaming "THIS IS LITERALLY 1984" because their measures are now actually effective?

What is so fucking difficult about using a product as it was intended?

>inb4 "leave the multibillion dollar company alone."

Nintendo has ever right to protect their business model and to dictate and enforce how their products are to be enjoyed. If Nintendo doesn't have this right, no one else does, so no one would be able to protect their bottom line from lowlife pieces of shit who thinks the rules of a decent society doesn't apply to them.
