It's not the fact they're simple in design, it's the fact they're as mentioned above literal regular animals with a horn and nothing more. Seel is just Seal with an extra E. There was no creativity with that line.

I only hate humanoid pokemon when they look ugly like the two mentioned. Drowzee and Mewtwo is ok because they still look more like some form of animalistic monster.

This design is actual abysmal dogshit, There is absolutely nothing cool about it. It looks like a naked rubber chicken lit on fire and it's shiny absolutely does not help it in that case, a total blunder in the bird trio.

Don't pretend like that isn't one of the coolest ideas for a water turtle-type of pokemon. I understand if you don't like the fact they look metallic or that it pivots away from wartortle but to say it's not good let alone one of the worst is just complete contrarianism.
