Does anyone else prefer these 80s-90s paleoart to modern ones? I don't know how to succintly put into words why I feel that way, but those old paleoart pieces hit that sweet spot where they make the mesozoic era creatures look like these exotic giants we can only fantasize about while also not making them out to be generic movie monsters. Modern paleoart on the other hand feels too "fuzzy" to me. Like, there just isn't that exoticness to it, like they try their hardest to make T Rex seem as generic as a cow.
Phil Wilson is the closest modern equivalent to the kind of art I like (pic related) to give you an idea about what I'm talking about.
