Dmitry Medvedev has won the Russian elections. In a three-way match between the fascist Liberal Democratic Party of Russia led by Vladimir Zhirinovsky (who once said during a rally: "Help us, and you'll never have to vote again! I'm not saying, 'Vote for us and maybe in 20 years' time somebody will do something.' No, these will be the last elections! The last ones!") and the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, which would have sought a return of the Soviet Union, and Medvedev, who led Putin's party, United Russia, Medvedev has expectedly come out on top. Analysts suspect that things will continue as normal for Russia in the coming years, though there is a chance that Medvedev might seek to democratize Russia, that is unlikely with his increasingly authoritarian views since his presidency a decade ago.
