Questing system/dialogue was outdated, made it hard to track in some instances. The lack of monster variety meant you were always going against goblins/bandits/wolves every 2 minutes, which was made worse when you go to Batthal. No proper fishing. Dungeon variety was CAVES and was obviously blocked off since there was hints of the elven side of things. Didn't mind the vocations, however trickster should be renamed to illusionist like the japanese translation and that vocation required stronger enemy ai to react properly. Gear acquisition was an afterthought which suggests a rush job, because gear should be acquired through MEANINGFUL and INTERESTING dungeons rather than just buying them from the towns. Maybe expand on equipment variety rather than just a linear progression, allowing for different playstyles. Mystic Spearhand should've remained as Mystic knight and instead have a proper spear+shield class. I enjoyed the outfits for Mystic Spearhand but locking them to certain vocations was not a good limitation. No snow/mountain map which was a shame. Needed a proper fishing minigame similar to Fantasy Life. Exploring was fun despite these downsides. Story is obviously dumb but that's always been Dragons Dogma, the strengths are in its feeling of ADVENTURE and PARTY. Should've copied Monster Hunter Wild's meal variety rather than just pork.mp4 during camping. Needed more monster variety.
