It's entirely ownership at the franchise level and how much work they put in to make their location(s) worth a shit. I live in a town with two KFCs. They were complete garbage in every way. Slow, shitty service. Cold, poorly made food. Fucked up orders. Dirty restaurants.

Then they changed ownership a couple years ago and now they are 100x better in every way. Fast, friendly service. Food is always hot and fresh. Orders aren't fucked up. Restaurants are spotless. The last time I went there the owner was on the register to take my order and running back and forth between the register and the kitchen, which I never saw with the previous owner. The prices are high for fried chicken but unless you're using apps pricing is fucked for all of fast food now.
