Leftists get their opinions from mass media, they trust mass media more than the right. So where are the right wing coming from? totally underground initiatives.
Leftists are completely out in the open, the right still relies on anonymous accounts to spread ideology. A lot of right wing Twitter accounts just copy everything from 4chan so the whole movement is rooted in anonymity.
I think it works like
The left can label themselves as leftist just fine, but their actions are repulsive
The right wing label is repulsive, but their actions are accepted.
