Kris wasn't glaring at you, they were looking to the side - where Ramb was. They've also got stark white skin when they look at Ramb, and have the same skin color when the 8 Bit Kris walks towards Susie to try and kill her.
The skin notably turns blue right before Kris quickly grabs Susie and pulls her out of the way.
Kris needs the SOUL in the Dark World because if they didn't have the SOUL, they'd have completely different colors.
