"Would you mind telling us about other quests you did in the past?" You ask Board.
"Eh, don't expect anything too heroic." Board shrugs. "The kind of stuff I was hired for was being a bodyguard for some cheapskate merchants, or deliver some goods or cash from one part of Sky Diamond to another."
"Oh? So you're from the capital?" Blueberry perks up.
"Yeah. That's where I grew up, but the daily life in the city was tiresome." Board recounts. "I much prefer these parts, where you can just graze instead of having to spend bucks when you're hungry. In fact, the worst I had to deal with during my quests was a bandit raid on a wagon I was escorting to Meadowburg. Thankfully, with my companions we could fend them off. Since then, I've been helping around with minor quests around here like gathering plants or recovering lost objects like we did today."
"Sounds like you've done a lot of… well, grunt work." You say. "Sorry for the lack of a better word. Anyway, I got a hunch that your line of work would be a lot easier if you were a bit taller, you know? A bit more imposing?"
"Well, looking like a towering hulk sure puts clients more at ease when they hire muscles, yeah." A light smile appears on Board's face at the thought. "'Could have saved me the trouble of proving that I can handle myself in some cases, or even scare wanabe thieves enough to make jobs even easier. I know there are some variants of strength potions for that, but those aren't worth the coins for the kind of jobs I usually pick."
"Mmh… There's a chance I could help with that." You tease. "And I promise I won't charge for it."
"If you got the spell, I could certainly use it at times." Board smiles. "If you stay around Meadowburd long enough, we might do another quest together and you can show me."
You keep drinking together for a while, sharing thoughts about Meadowburg and the weather at this time of the year. You can't refrain from looking at the cute barmaid cheerfully trotting around to delivers drinks, and imagine how good she'd look with a couple more inches of height… or a couple hundred…
If you've gonna flirt with non-adventurer mares, presents, offering a drink or a date can go a long way to break the ice. Though, you can also just grow them without any of that. While barely anypony knows about you and your abilities, mares won't even realize who grew them.
But for now, as Blueberry makes a trip to the restroom, it's Board that you decide to make a move on.
"Say Board." Yous start. "Are you staying at the inn tonight? If you do, would you happen to seek a sleeping cuddle buddy?"
"Huh? I mean, woah…" The mare blinks in confusion, but you see the hint of a blush creep on her face. "Just like that? Aren't bards supposed to sing a song to their love first? I mean, scratch that, you caught me off guard. And, uhm, I am going to spend the night here, but, I…"
