Nuclear waste is only a problem if you want it to be. The problem can be essentially solved by fast neutron reactors. China has almost finished building their first two commercial-scale fast neutron reactors (of the CFR-600 model). Russia already has fast neutron reactors in operation that are burning nuclear waste right now, and they are building more.
