I think you're asking the right questions. Every thing from law to finance today is supposedly more complicated than it was in the past. Now we could accept this if we were getting better results, but we aren't. Worse, you get clear examples of waste like picrel which are explained away with law and theory. Personally, I think the devil is in the language. If we get these guys to explain things without technical jargon and answer questions with resorting to "it's complicated" I think we'd realize how broken this system is.
