Yeah not buying it. The reason where was a focus on having just one ending and choices not mattering tries into the whole plot about the prophecy. Toby did not rewrite the entire planned out plot for the game to try and retroactively justify initially saying one ending and choices not matter. He could have easily just shrugged and said "I lied".
