>He is so afraid of responsibility in the most pathetic way possible
>He is very immature and alternates being a brat and making inappropriate jokes.
>He puts Duncan, a man he barely knows for six months up on a pedestal like Duncan is his dad and expects the player to have the same reverence for the man, despite the possibility you may have valid reasons for resenting him
>Alistair also has some weird ideas what it means to be a grey warden and doesn’t understand that grey wardens are not about sentimentality and family, they’re about killing dark spawn and ending the blight by any means necessary.
And god forbid you say something he doesn’t like or disagree with. Alistair is the only companion in the game that can routinely throw a hissy fit at you, get angry at you and refuse to speak with you unless you apologise. Worse yet, when you go to apologise to him, he is a total asshole about it and not even remotely interested in hearing you unless you push the issue.
If you spare Loghain at the landsmeet and recruit him into the grey warden, an idea that Riordan brought up and Duncan himself would have done too because that what senior grey wardens do and are all about. Alistair would kick up a massive fuss over it and “leaves” the grey wardens, showing how childish and unreliable he really is. Good riddance.
Loghain on the other hand made some horrendous mistakes and choices but he at least still takes full responsibility for them and can have an adult conversation about it anyways, unlike Alistair.
Why did people ever liked this manchild of a character?
