Also someone mentioned the Dragonshy episode which is true, Fluttershy had been like this even earlier on in the season. And good, because the alternative would her being rather one dimensional. The characters going to personal extremes are a key element to the show. They come off as very cartooish immature and also real. Of course I don't even know if OP is being serious, I don't know that anyone would say it's a bad idea to have Fluttershy incapable of going to an extreme.
