I was a CHERUB chad as a teenager, and I loved Redwall too (even enough to get a tattoo when I turned 18) although in hindsight I think I read them at a little too old an age (first one I read at 13) but whatever I guess. I only *really* got into reading fiction at about age 11. I read a lot of classic science fiction as a teen too, a lot of Arthur C. Clarke and some Philip K. Dick (who I would get more obsessed with later, in my 20s). I read The Time Machine when I was 15, 2001: A Space Odyssey when I was 14, Ender's Game at 15 I think. But there were a lot of really good YA series at the time, like seriously it was the absolute height of YA fiction ever. Pendragon was good but I didn't finish it (I didn't finish CHERUB either but I read 10/12 books). The Hunger Games I read when I was in grade 12 when the film came out but I thought it worked well enough as a standalone story so I never read the rest. I read The Fellowship of the Ring+The Two Towers TWICE and didn't know what the fuck was going on. (I ended up reading LOTR in its entirety when I was a bit more literate, but it was on the backburner for a lot of the time and it took me about 14 months to read, from ages 19-21.)
