KAC had made very accurate barrels that worked great with new manufacture 7.62, but the 30+ year old rusted out garbage in afghanistan didn't work well with the normal DI gas system and caused cycling issues, as well as getting jammed in the chamber as grit and rust got caked on. they ended up being so problematic that the soldiers testing them eventually just left them at base and switched to using AKs like the other guys who were running indigenous gear. the whole mess was pretty embarrassing for KAC and the military wasn't too happy that Crane had spent over a million dollars buying six rifles (the five issued as well as one test prototype that stayed at KAC) that didn't work, so they sort of buried the whole thing. that pic anon posted was taken by m110sassactual and is one of the first pics of it taken in 20+ years
