The spectacle of watching originally static models come to life onscreen and having them recreate battles at scale providing your potato can handle that. Add in VA, music, environmental interaction with persistent scarring and corpses to emphasize the carnage that has just played out. The real hybrid that could've grown from this is an FPS/RTS where you can jump between birds eye and ground level in an instant to really appreciate the scale from a single perspective. The closest game to this in recent memory is Bannerlord with mods. It's one thing to lay out troop movements from the sky but it becomes a whole other ballgame when you are directing the battle from a hill or getting right in there.
